Range Rover Sport 2023

Overview Range Rover Sport 2022

If you're looking for a vehicle that combines off-road capability, luxurious accommodation and a premium image reputation, some things from Land Rover's high-end Range Rover lineup will work well.  But if your price range isn't very flexible, the 2023 Range Rover Sport is an almost satisfying opportunity.  Despite its smaller dimensions, the Sport has a similar silhouette to the more expensive Range Rover, but with a notable dose of recognisability.  The trio of powertrains, consisting of straight-six hybrids, straight-six hybrids, fast double-V eights and big electric motors, give you plenty to choose from.  The cabin is first class and packed with applied technology consisting of Land Rover's advanced Pivi Pro infotainment tools and driver assistance features to help with every journey on and off road.  All of these modes don't come cheap, and the Range Rover Sport's entry-level price is better than a range of luxury SUVs, including the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and Volvo XC90.  But make no mistake, the Sport has definitely earned its place in the Range Rover line-up, and for a variety of reasons, one of which is now: it looks like money is at stake

What's New for 2023

Like the larger Range Rover, the mid-length Range Rover Sport has received a complete makeover consisting of a clean styling, updated cabin and contemporary technology. The all-electric Range Rover Sport EV will launch next year as a 2024 model

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The base engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that uses a 48-volt hybrid and produces 355 hp in the P360 SE and 395 hp in the P400 SE Dynamic.  The P440e's plug-in hybrid configuration is differentiated by the flamed Autobiography finish and the combination of an electric motor and a straight-six engine for a combined 434 hp.  The most interesting downsizing can be seen in the first version of the P530, which in its simplest form comes with a 523 hp 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8.  Land Rover estimates that the V8 engine will accelerate the Range Rover Sport to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds.  All modes include a computer-controlled eight-speed gearbox, combined four-wheel drive and adjustable air suspension.  The Range Rover Sport is also available with optional overall performance with a setup known as the Stormer Handling Pack, offering rear-wheel steering and torque vectoring.  During our first test drive, we found that the throttle response on our V8-powered car was very choppy and difficult to function smoothly.  Otherwise, we took inspiration from the Range Rover Sport's mix of entertainment and sport, noting that the rear-wheel steering makes maneuvering in tight areas more difficult than in a similarly sized SUV
